Minister Alfredo Ferrero

Peruvian exports increased 15.6% for 2003. Artichokes, fish, asparagus, avocados and conchs are some of the exported products that reached the sum of $8.8 billion for 2003. It is expected that for 2004, Peru exports will reach $10 billion.
Other areas showing increases are chemical products (23.3%), textiles (21.6%), mine and oil (21.3%), metals (18.8%) and agriculture products (10.5%.)

Minister Alfredo Ferrero explained that besides the NAFTA, USA, European Union, Andean Countries and Mercosur markets, Peru will increase its exports to China. Asia's biggest country, once a threat to Peru imports, represents an immense business opportunity for Peru exports. China has 1.3 billion people that can be reached with Peruvian products. "Based on market analyzes, we'll work  together with the regional governments to identify the types of products of each region to market them worldwide," Ferrero said.

Prompex president Jose Alejandro Gonzales will lead the marketing of Peruvian products to the USA, Europe, Latin America and Asian markets.
