Peru is ready to qualify for a place at the 2006 World Cup soccer tournament in Germany. Currently, Peru is in 7th place out of 10 teams in South America. The top five teams in South America will qualify to represent the continent.

Peru plays against Brazil on March 26, 2005, in Lima. Coach Autuori recruited 13 Peruvian soccer player that play professionally outside of Peru. Among them are Claudio Pizarro and Paolo Guerrero, who play for the Bayern of Munich. Jefferson Farfan plays for PSV Eindhoven of Holland. Others play for Argentian, Mexican, and Ecuadorian clubs.

The Peruvian offense has become very effective in recent matches. The team feels that they can conquer anybody. The Brazilians are the defending World Cup champions, but Peru has beat them before and they want a repeat victory.

After the match with Brazil, Peru next plays Ecuador.
