Guarded by the Comando Centurion, a group of security officers, 150,000 shoppers per day can browse the hundreds of ships in the area. The stores offer designer clothes at affordable prices. Fashion shows presenting the latest trends are a weekly event. The yearly sales is close to $1 billion.

New buildings are being constructed where once was poverty. The entire area was transformed into a modern area. The prices per square meter can cost up to $13,000.
Some of the new successful businessmen in the Gamarra district are not from Lima. They came from other Peruvian provinces like Huancayo, Cuzco, Ancash and others.
They remember when they started. Jose Reyes used to sell eggs, now he has three stores that sells baby clothes. Leo Castro came from Arequipa with very little and now he designs his own line of clothes and sells them in his two stores. |
