Bush leaves Peru for El Salvador
LIMA, Peru, March 24 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush departed Lima, Peru, early on Sunday en route to El Salvador, the last stop of his Latin American tour.
Bush's plane lifted off from Lima around 7:55 a.m. (1255 GMT). The U.S. leader is due to arrive later in the day in San Salvador, where he will meet with Central American leaders to discuss trade and migration before traveling to Washington on Sunday night.
President Alejandro Toledo and Bush, who arrived in Lima from a U.N. development conference in Monterrey, Mexico, for the first visit to Peru by a sitting American president, promised to boost trade and stand firm against terror.
Peru was shaken ahead of Bush's visit this week by a car bomb that killed nine people near the U.S. Embassy.
Bush and Toledo also held talks with Colombian President Andres Pastrana, Bolivian President Jorge Quiroga and Vice President Pedro Pinto of Ecuador.
