Peru airline Nuevo Aero Continente takes flight

By Pablo Veramendi

PeruToYou.com

Old Peruvian airline Aero Continente passed to employees' ownership and started to fly again on Friday, July 29, to recapture its national Peruvian market as a 100% Peruvian-owned airline.
The old airline faced many problems for several years, including rumors and legal charges that the airline was linked to illicit drug money.

International flights to the USA were stopped by the American government because owner Zevallos appeared on a most-wanted drug dealers list. The Peruvian government stopped all its national flights in the middle of the America Cup soccer tournament because the airline didn't have flight insurance.

The new airline, Nuevo Aero Continente, wants to recover it national flights this year and they are planning to restart international flight service next year.
