President Toledo said he expects to start formal negotiations for a free trade treaty with the United States on May 15. The treaty will help open new doors for the sale of Peruvian products -- many of which are not known in North America.

The areas of dispute include pressures from USA multinational companies supported by the USA government. These companies are seeking to pay lower Peruvian taxes due to contracts done with Peru's previous government and that are in irregular condition with current Peruvian regulations.

Peruvians will face a challenge to stabilize its commercial rules to be in step with foreign governments.

Toledo's government is also negotiating with the European Union for a similar treaty. German mission leader Iberoamerika Verein is currently visiting Peru to explore business opportunities. "The world business community does have trust in our country." Toledo said
